Loving the Lord Jesus, Loving the BibleI became interested in Christianity when I was in middle school in New Zealand. I visited some Christian youth groups, read the Bible, and discussed religious topics with friends. When I moved to Coppell, Texas for high school, I looked for a Christian youth group; that's when I started attending the high school meeting with the local church in nearby Irving, Texas. I was initially impressed by their love for the Lord and the Bible and their genuine concern for one another. It was here that I prayed to receive the Lord Jesus as my personal Savior. I began to study some of the books they were reading. One that particularly impressed me and helped me understand the Bible was the Life-study of Genesis by Witness Lee. Through the exposition I started to understand the significance of many types and figures in the Bible and how they applied to me in my daily Christian walk. Frequently I found myself rejoicing and full of thanksgiving to the Lord for the Bible and for His rich grace and mercy. When I found out I would be graduating as salutatorian from high school and had to make a speech, I felt I had to testify something concerning my love and appreciation for the Lord Jesus. I told the audience that He is my best friend, and I wished everyone in the audience would also receive Him as Savior and share the same joy. After high school I decided to attend the University of California at Berkeley where I met with the local church in Berkeley. I continued to study the Bible and also started to learn how to preach the gospel, fellowship with the other believers, and take care of younger believers. I really felt my years in Berkeley deposited in me a much deeper love for the Lord and the Bible and an aspiration to follow the Lord for the rest of my life. Now I'm in the Full-Time Training in Anaheim, a Christian training in Bible truth and Christian service. Every day I am learning to receive Christ as life and peace and depend on Him for everything I need. Alan Lee | Back to List |
